Ausaid: Education

Australia is aiding other countries with their education skills and levels  and its objectives are to help reduce poverty and achieve a sustainable development by giving children good education. The aim for Australia by 2010 is to increase the number of children attending school by 10 million. Ausaid hopes to extend the benefits of education in donor countries benefits such as the reduction of poverty in 3rd world countries this can be achieved by introducing vocational and technological courses at schools so that students are well informed and are able to sustain their countries economy with future jobs becoming available, Ausaid also works on the country's governance they help them with financial management systems so that the country's government will be able to sustain the education system without the help of donor countries. "Australia will also collaborate with partners to meet specific regional education needs such as labour market skill shortages, English language skill development and improvements in education quality in Islamic schools in Indonesia, South Asia and the Philippines." This will mean that if Australia gives any more aid to these countries in the future they will be able to pay the loan back when the recipient country has enough money in their economy. In a sense Australia is taking these countries under its wing to create money off them in the future like living, learning and growing investments.

Kevin Rudds Apology speech.

Kevin Rudd's apology speech made me see that the aboriginals went through a lot of  hardship when the white people came to their land They were killed and persecuted, they were ravished with disease and given weapons and alcohol. Kevin Rudds speech commented on the stolen generation and how the half caste children were taken from their parents and sent to missionary camps and made to assimilate into australian culture and eventually become white. He said sorry for the previous governments treatment of the matters of the stolen generation, he said sorry that they hadnt been apologised to earlier. He spoke about an 80 year old lady who had been taken from her family, and was only found by an aboriginal stockman who she stated she did not harbour any hatred against and who she forgave fully.

Kevin rudds apology made afew promises that so far the government hasn't kept such as the housing in the northern territory and alice springs that he said they would be building.

he spoke about bridging the life expectancy gap and the rate of crime in aboriginal communities.

In my opinion his appology was heartfelt but his promises may have been on the lighter side and not really likely to happen.
